Sketchbook #13 : Found Pattern

Assignment #20 : Wrapped Object

I decided to take a different approach with the "wrapped object" proposal. When I researched Christo and Jeanne-Claude I mostly enjoyed their wrapped building, bridges, and parks. I thought it was a very interesting concept to wrap something that is so big and and already in nature. However, I wasn't as impressed with the smaller objects that were wrapped. To me the smaller objects didn't do this great idea of wrapping unusual things justice. Because I wouldn't successfully be able to wrap a large scale object to make my photograph as extraordinary as Christo and Jeanne-Claude's I chose to find another approach to the idea of wrapping something. I did some research then came across photoshoots with lights. I was immediately intrigued so I decided what I would do is wrap a model in lights. I thought it would look better than it did because I desired for the lights to be a little more out of focus. But, I still do like the way I interpreted the assignment.

Assignment #19 : Aaron Siskind

My images resemble Aaron Siskind's work because of the monochromatic, texture, and overall dark feel. When I was shooting I had my eye out for some kind of broken pattern to present an eery, almost scary look. For my composition I tried to zoom in a lot so that I was focusing on one thing on one side of the picture. I shot in black and white, also to focus on the composition and shapes found in the photograph. I added a grainy, sharpened effect to the images too, which helped make them darker and creepier.

Assignment #17 : What Color Are You?

The color that describes me best is pink. I went outside knowing I wanted to find an object that was all pink and found this perfect plant. I chose to shoot with one of the leaves in focus because it shows dimension. The dimension describes me because there are lots of layers to my personality. I can be fun and silly but also very serious and stubborn. I chose the color pink because it displays the spontaneous, adventurous, and daring side to me. The color is very bright showing the bright and happy parts of me but also has some darker shades showing the devoted and persistent parts.

Assignment #16 : Free Choice Proposal

For my free choice project I am choosing to do an urban city life series. This weekend I am going to the city starting at sunrise and staying for most of the day. I am going to different locations in San Francisco to really capture the different aspects of a day in life of someone living in an urban area. My goal for this project is to photograph different people and be able to tell a story just by seeing the pictures. I'm super excited to go and shoot all day.
